The Greatest Treasure

Everyone seems to be searching for something...there are countless books, products, activities and formulas in our modern world which are "guaranteed" to make us happy. But our souls will only be happy when they come home to their maker and make him their boss and treasure.

That is what it means to make Jesus Christ your Lord and Saviour. Will everything in your life automatically be "fixed"? Probably not, but you will be on the right track! And your soul will find peace for the journey because your destination will be settled!

...for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that He is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me. 2 Timothy 1:12b

Missionaries or Imposters?

I can't believe it has been a over a month since I wrote on my blog.  Where did August go???  I turned my calendar to September and kind of felt cheated.  I was looking forward to summer and somehow I missed it.

Anyway, I wanted to come downstairs and get on my blog so that I could tell you about this really cool new book I have just started reading called "One Thing That You Cannot Do in Heaven" by Mark Cahill.  I think that next to the Bible, it is one of the most awesome books I have read.  I have only read two chapters so far, but already I am excited about sharing Christ!  Not that I didn't WANT to do this before, it's just that I always felt...inadequate...tongue-tied...and scared.  And when I read books SIMILAR to this one, I only felt convicted, but never pumped up about it.

In the introduction/forward to this book he asks the reader what they think the most important thing will be millions of years from now.  The answer is:  who is in heaven and who is in hell.  After all, it is the only thing that really matters.  And if we truly believe this (and as Christians we should) then the most important thing we should be doing now is sharing Christ.  If we really love Him we should seek to have a heart like his and scripture tells us that the desire of God is that none should perish.

Why is it then, that it seems so hard to witness to folks.  My friend Julie DeWaard is loaning this book to me and she has told me that it is full of all kinds of interesting ideas/ways to share Christ with others.  I can't wait to read more.  I just wanted to share this with you.  Maybe you have already heard of this book, or even read it, but if not it looks like I good one to pick up.

It is a beautiful fall day out.  Take care and enjoy...

Love
Mary
